Hi friends! This tired gal has put together a list of her favorite books. We will choose from these and books group members have recommended that meet our goals by survey in our monthly newsletter.

We will also use surveys to choose the day of the week and time we will have our Zoom or live meetings, trying to make it a repetitive date. If you can’t make it to the meeting, you can still read that month’s book and participate in our Facebook group.

Over the course of this book club, we will talk about many topics that, on their own, may not look connected. But we are gaining skills and knowledge that are the building blocks of the life we are trying to create for ourselves. Items we will cover include:

  1. Physical and Emotional Health
  2. Enhanced Leadership Skills
  3. Improved Decision-Making
  4. Effective Habits and Productivity
  5. Emotional Intelligence
  6. Adaptability and Resilience
  7. Empowerment and Self-Improvement
  8. Social Impact and Service

When first responders arrive on the scene of an incident, they do a scene size up. They don’t just rush in. They take in information, decide if the situation is safe (or not) for them, and come up with a course of action. So do we, on an everyday basis, whether we realize it or not. So, we will start with the book The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker, which explores intuition, personal safety, and the psychology of violence. Through gripping stories and insightful analysis, de Becker reveals the crucial role of instinctual signals in assessing and responding to threats. By understanding the tactics of predators and trusting our instincts, readers are empowered to protect themselves and loved ones, offering a fresh perspective on personal safety and empowerment in modern life.

You can get this book on Amazon, Audible, your local library or your local bookstore. We will start meeting in June, so get to reading!
